This is a professionally guided tour around the city centre including visits to the Main major sites in Addis Ababa including: Entoto Mariam Orthodox Church with museum; National Museum; Ethnological Museum at Addis Ababa University; Cathedral Church of Holy trinity; Merkato one of the biggest open air market in Africa; Addis Ababa Museum, St George Cathedral church Museum, Minilik Mausoleum. These tours shall be eye opening in terms of the normal Ethiopian town folk life style providing knowledge and information throughout the guided tour. Included in this package will be refreshments and information folders detailing the main sites and history of selected Cities. This tour will cover approximately 50 kilometers taking about half a day to complete.

Trinity Cathedral is one of the highly ranking Cathedrals in Addis Ababa.  It venerates Ethiopia's liberation from five years of Italian occupation. It is located next to the Parliament Building near the Arat Kilo.

Emperor Menelik II founded the church, after he moved his imperial capital from Mt. Entoto to Addis Ababa.  The Church of the Holy Trinity was founded then. Menilik built the church with wood with intricate carvings. It was constructed with the help of artists from India.

St George's Cathedral is an Orthodox cathedral in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is noted for its distinctive octagonal form. It is located at the northern end of Churchill Road in the city. St. Georges's Cathedral Museum displays costumes, parchments, crosses and wall paintings that throw light on some aspects of the cultural tradition of the country's long history.

Addis Ababa hosts nine museums, each specializing in different aspects of the country's rich tradition. The National Museum also referred as the Ethiopian National Museum is the primary museum in Ethiopia. It is located at Amist Kilo (King George Street) near the graduate school of Addis Ababa University. At first, the National Museum started displaying a few collections donated by the royal family and their close associates.

Set within Haile Selassie’s former palace and surrounded by the beautiful gardens and fountains of Addis Ababa University’s main campus is the enthralling Ethnological Museum. Even if you’re not normally a museum fan, this one is worth a bit of your time – it’s easily one of the finest museums in Africa.

The show starts before you even get inside: look for the intriguing set of stairs spiralling precariously skyward near the palace’s main entrance. Each step was placed by the Italians as a symbol of Fascist domination, one for every year Mussolini held power (starting from his march to Rome in 1922). A small Lion of Judah (the symbol of Ethiopian monarchy) sits victoriously atop the final step, like a jubilant punctuation mark at the end of a painfully long sentence.

Entoto is an important watershed, to the north water flows to the Blue Nile, to the south to the Awash River.  In 1881 emperor Menelik II made his permanent camp there, after remains of an old town (believed to have been the capital of 16th century monarch Lebna Dengel) were discovered, which Menelik thought was a divine and auspicious sign.

Also known as Menelik’s Mausoleum, the Beta Maryam Mausoleum is located just south of Menelik’s palace in Addis Ababa and offers a pleasantly eerie experience for visitors. It is found within the compound of the Grand palace. Empress Zewditu built it in 1911. Paintings of the wall of the sanctuary are very interesting that also depict some the members of Menelik’s II royal family and scenes of events during his time.

Merkato is "the largest open air market in Africa".  The Markato is worth visiting places in Addis. You can buy anything here and the experience is unforgettable. Dress casual with a good pair of shoes or boots, keep your money well out of site and leave any valuables in the hotel safe. If you see something you want, work out a price you want to pay and bargain with the seller. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time as there is so much to see.
